In the course of putting together a display of Malcolm Gladwell "readalikes", I looked at the potential for a display of
Freakonomics spinoffs.
Freakonomics is the assigned reading for all levels of AP English at Leon High this summer. I concluded that, although
Freakonomics inspired a number of "
-onomics" imitators, there were not enough of them to furnish a two-week display. But I did find this amusing article in the NYT from a year ago on how publishers try to capitalize on the titles of successful books:
